NEW SINGLE "ROSE OF MY HEART"
14th June 2008
‘Rose Of My Heart’ is the title of the brand new single from Robert Mizzell. This is a sterling recording from Robert adding another dimension to his vocal talent and is taken from his award-winning, best selling album ‘Thanks A Lot’.
‘Rose Of My Heart’ is a dreamy waltz, written by Hugh Moffatt. Previously recorded by a number of top America artists, its popularity was further enhanced by Johnny Rodriguez, with another superb rendition in later time from the legendary Johnny Cash.
Robert wraps his vocals around this classic in a way that exemplifies his understanding of the lyrics, bringing the listener back to the reality of life, while honing in on what's important and often times remains unsaid. This innovative number shows incredible foresight on the part of the writer. The timeless lyrics fit just as perfectly and are as meaningful, in today's busy world as when they were written. This compelling number is already gripping the attention of audiences while adding to Robert's broadening appeal.
Robert Mizzell recently returned from a hugely successful ten-day tour to The United States. The tour group of 110 fans and friends visited Dyess, Arkansas, Memphis, Nashville, Virginia and Gatlinburg. This memorable trip had a Cash/Carter theme, the group visiting places and meeting people associated with the late Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash. The party felt privileged to meet local people who grew up with Johnny in Dyess, and later on to meet and be entertained by Johnny’s brother Tommy and sister Joanne.
Robert also got the opportunity to perform in some elite venues including The Midnite Jamboree, The Cowboy Church, and The Carter Family Fold. Robert was indeed humbled and honoured to be invited to perform the opening twenty-five minute slot at The Country Tonite Theatre in Pigeon Forge. To be asked to perform for the local people in Dyess, Arkansas in the same venue where Johnny Cash sang and on the same stage was a very special time for Robert. The state television, radio and the print media, took a major interest in him and the group and were on hand to capture this and other local activities on the tour itinerary.
Robert’s London music weekend in July 2008 has already sold out. As the American tour and the London weekend sold out in record time, people who were unable to book places on the London trip can be assured that the management team are taking various ideas on board and they will organise an alternative trip in due course.
Plans are at an advanced stage for next years trip to the United States, which will be a very exiting one, covering all new terrain, and because of expressed interest is bound to sell out fast.

'Thanks A Lot' CD Review
15th March 2008
Below is a CD Review of Robert's latest album 'Thanks A Lot' by Davy Kennedy
IF IT'S GONNA RAIN … I HOPE IT MIZZELLS
Not often enough, in music, do we get one of those 'hairs on the back of the neck' moments. But that’s what keeps us listening. Hoping for that experience again. Way back, I felt it when listening to Hank Williams' 'Luke The Drifter' album. Later I got it quite a few times with Elvis. Then hearing George Jones 'live' in Belfast, was another special moment. Sometimes Merle, Conway and Kris gave me 'goose bumps', but I never expected, in my wildest dreams, to get those feelings listening to a recording made here in Ireland. But surprise, surprise it’s happened.
I've been saying, for a long time, that 'local' recordings have been improving in leaps and bounds. Most of them no longer sound like cheap copies of Nashville productions. But this Robert Mizzell album, raises the bar to a new level. I won't try to grade the tracks, they're all superb. Though if I had to pick one, it’s not easy, but I think I’d plump for 'If It’s Gonna Rain'. A gorgeous vocal and a classy but not overproduced backing.
Any country radio presenter who doesn’t give these tracks loads of airtime, should seek new employment, because this is what good country music is all about. It’s only March, but this is already a safe bet as my 'Album of the Year'. A brilliant co-production by Robert Mizzell and Jonathan Owens who have used the line up of top musicians, to their best effect. To everyone involved, for an album which will often be spinning on my CD player, 'Thanks A Lot'. -- Davy Kennedy

"Thanks A Lot" Press Release
1st March 2008
'Thanks A Lot' is the title of Robert Mizzell's new 13-track album. It is also an expression of gratitude for the loyal support he receives. The inspiration for this exceptional album of country songs came from his fans. Combining lesser-known songs requested at his live shows, with songs already included in his programme, Robert is delivering exactly what the public want to hear.
This album is a rich collection of country numbers, many old and some new. It’s a combination that reflects Robert’s singing talent and ability, while recounting stories of his homeland and life’s experiences in simpler times.
The album contains his two highly acclaimed hit singles ‘A Friend In Need’ and ‘Next To You, Next To Me’, both of which proved hugely popular when released late 2007 and early 2008.
The title track ‘Thanks A Lot’ made famous by The Texas Troubadour, Ernest Tubb, has been given an impressive contemporary feel, which makes it sound brand new.
Classic tracks included on this CD are the Dolly Parton hit ‘9 to 5’, 'Folsom Prison Blues', 'The Race Is On', the Bill Anderson classic ‘Must You Throw Dirt In My Face’, ‘Rose of My Heart’, and ‘White Lightning’.
The Merle Haggard / Bonnie Owens composition ‘Today I Started Loving You Again’, the type of story that plays out daily, also features Lorraine Mc Donald and was once popularised by George Jones, ‘It’s Gonna Rain’ and ‘Long Black Train’ are two modern tracks on the album.
This is Robert’s fifth collection and should prove enormously popular. He is fast expanding his country horizons with his recordings receiving extensive airplay in Europe and Australia. Robert was fortunate to have a #1 in the ECMA chart this year.

'You're Why God Made Me' Reaches #1!
26th January 2008
Reaching the #1 position in the European Country Music Chart, Robert Mizzell is indeed on the crest of a wave. This week sees Robert’s single ‘You’re Why God Made Me’ achieving the ultimate accolade. It entered the chart seven weeks ago and climbed rapidly upwards, spending three weeks at number two, before hitting the very top position this week.
Robert is overwhelmed with this success; it is the first time that an Irish-based country artist has achieved the European Country Music Chart’s top position. Robert had this to say when he received the news :
“This is wonderful. I must thank especially our friends at Hillcrest and everyone involved in helping promote our material worldwide. I am thrilled to hear of our number one position.”
"The commitment of people in the music business and the dedication of our fans makes this type of honour possible for us. As singers and entertainers, being credited with a number one makes everything about Country Music worthwhile and especially right now for the Country Kings and I.”
“Thanks also the printed media and our DJ friends at home and around the world for playing our songs and to all our fans who requested them on radio stations world wide. We hope to be able to visit places where our music is popular in the future, our growing popularity in Australia is heartening.”
The privilege of getting to the top of the ECMC, means Robert is in the illustrious company of top American Country Singers like Brad Paisley, Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw and Mark Chestnut, all of whom are listed on the chart at the moment.
During 2007 another of Robert’s recordings "Don’t Wake Me Up (Till We Touch Down At Shannon)", achieved a top ten position reaching number five after just seven weeks on the chart. Five months after it first entered, it’s still listed and is one of the top 100 requested songs throughout Europe.

"Next To Me, Next To You" Press Release
15th January 2008
The most impressive single yet from Robert Mizzell entitled "Next To You, Next To Me" has just been released. This single is the second to be taken from Robert’s forthcoming album, which will be released in February.
"Next To You, Next To Me" and the new album, from which it is taken, establish Robert as an impressive talent, showcasing the expertise he has gained through a decade of performing, and the first-class musicianship from his band that fans have come to expect. His musical journey from Louisiana, accompanied by his down home country style has propelled him into the front ranks of singers in the country genre.
This new single offers the listener an opportunity to join Robert on a musical journey, taking a virtual drive with him in his pick up truck, while enjoying the lyrics of "Next To You, Next To Me". With his identity now firmly established in Ireland, thanks to an honest and powerful voice, he has carved out his own niche in our diverse country landscape.
"Next To You, Next To Me" was written by Curtis Wright and Robert Ellis Orral, two well-known American songwriters. It further demonstrates Robert’s continuing commitment to good Country Music. This song has been updated and given a contemporary feel and Robert delivers it in his own impressive style. It is destined to pick up considerable airplay throughout Ireland, North and South, and also in Europe where two of Robert’s recordings featured in the top five in the ECMA Chart during 2007.
There is a short sample here :
Robert’s dedication to his craft and his impressive accomplishments have brought him to the forefront of Country Music. Possessing a variety of strengths, Robert and his band (The Country Kings) are looking forward to an exciting 2008, playing top venues throughout Ireland. Fans can also look forward to the London Irish Festival (Roundwood Park) in July, which shall be highlighted at a later date along with other UK tour information.
Robert’s April tour to the U.S.A. is practically sold out, with just a few places remaining. The tour, aptly named the 'Walk The Line' Tour, is organised in association with Driftaway Travel, Letterkenny. The group will visit places associated with Johnny Cash and June Carted Cash, from Dyess in Arkansas where Cash grew up, to the Carter Fold in West Virginia home of June Carter Cash. Also included in the itinerary are Memphis, Nashville and Gatlinburg. There is something in this tour for anybody who has a deep appreciation of genuine country music.
Presently, Robert is very busy finishing off the aforementioned album, due this coming February, as well as making preparations for recording of his first DVD.
